Docs to see before you go.

A list found in the NY Times of 50 documentaries to see before you die.... this is such a weird list. i understand the distinction between "the best documentaries" and "documentaries to see before you die." some of the best documentaries i've seen, i wouldn't consider them required viewing before death. and skimming this list, i see docs about subject matter that yes, you probably should expose yourself to, whether or not the film is one of the best. but Exit Through the Gift Shop? King of Kong? great movies, but not exactly required viewing before passing on to the great beyond.

i bolded the ones i've seen, and italicized the ones i want to see. (yes, i am the last person in the free world who has not seen March of the Penguins)

This is a curious list... I will say I don't think 'Catfish' is really worth seeing; it's marginally interesting, I also haven't seen 'March of the Penguins' so you're not alone :), and that I really enjoyed 'Dogtown and the Z Boys.' Those are my two cents. Oh, and 'The Cruise' is worth seeing.

another friend said Catfish just made her feel uncomfortable. The Cruise looks great, i'll add it to my list!
